Our Story.

Whyley Legal Counsel & Labour Relations is a boutique firm of accomplished professionals with a passion for advocacy. We practice exclusively in the areas of labour and employment law to provide top-tier legal services in Saskatchewan.

The firm was founded in 2022 by Shannon Whyley. After roughly 17 years of working in various capacities in the “law business,” Shannon decided it was time to build something new and keep it small. The goal was to create a practice that was customized to client needs, adaptable, and sustainable – all while drawing upon an existing skill-set which has proven to be effective over and over again.

Acting primarily for unions and employees, the firm draws upon the professional experiences of its team members gained through a variety of work settings. In addition to many years of practice dedicated to labour and employment law, our lawyers also have experience in civil litigation, insurance, general counsel, and privacy law, among other practice areas.

In everything we do, we value:

  • Quality;

  • Dependability;

  • Ethics;

  • Authenticity;

  • Accountability; and

  • Personal and professional health and wellness.

The firm has an established client base and frequently appears on matters before the Saskatchewan Labour Relations Board, arbitrators, and other tribunals, both in-person and virtually.

Our practice is largely paperless. We work closely with our clients to come up with practical solutions to deliver the best value for premium work, and our lawyers all work in a hybrid capacity with a combination of in-person and remote work. Our offices are located in downtown Saskatoon.

Due to the specialized nature of our practice, we accept new individual clients by referral only and through a careful intake process which includes an assessment of our capacity and a realistic consideration of other options for solving workplace problems.

For new union/institutional clients, we are always open to having a conversation to discuss compatibility with our practice mix, values, and future growth. We also have the ability to provide limited support to organizations in other provinces with respect to labour laws in Saskatchewan.
